Peptoids with Antibiofilm Activity against the Gram Negative Obligate Anaerobe, Fusobacterium nucleatum

چکیده

Peptoids (oligo N-substituted glycines) are peptide analogues, which can be designed to mimic host antimicrobial peptides, with the advantage that they resistant proteolytic degradation. Few studies on efficacy of peptoids have focused Gram negative anaerobic microbes associated clinical infections, commonly recalcitrant antibiotic treatment. We therefore studied cytotoxicity and antibiofilm activity a family against obligate anaerobe Fusobacterium nucleatum, is infections in oral cavity. Two peptoids, peptoid 4 (NaeNpheNphe)4 9 (NahNspeNspe)3 were shown efficacious F. nucleatum biofilms at concentration 1 μM. At this concentration, not cytotoxic human erythrocytes or primary gingival fibroblast cells. merit as future therapeutics for treatment infections.

Gliding motility and actinomycin D sensitivity of Fusobacterium nucleatum and other gram-negative rods.

Six strains of gram-negative anaerobic fusiform rods (Fusobacterium and Bacteroides spp.), isolated from deep subgingival locations in humans, were examined for (i) gliding motility in slide cultures, (iii) cell densities on nutrient agar surfaces, and (iii) sensitivity to actinomycin D. Known gliding (FBt) and nonmotile (NM) strains of Myxococcus xanthus served as controls for the gliding and ...

Coaggregation of Candida dubliniensis with Fusobacterium nucleatum.

The binding of microorganisms to each other and oral surfaces contributes to the progression of microbial infections in the oral cavity. Candida dubliniensis, a newly characterized species, has been identified in human immunodeficiency virus-seropositive patients and other immunocompromised individuals. C. dubliniensis phenotypically resembles Candida albicans in many respects yet can be identi...

Anti-biofilm Activities from Resveratrol against Fusobacterium nucleatum

Fusobacterium nucleatum is a Gram-negative, anaerobic bacterium that plays an important role in dental plaque biofilm formation. In this study, we evaluate the effect of resveratrol, a phytoalexin compound, on F. nucleatum biofilm formation. The effects of different concentrations of resveratrol on biofilms formed on 96-well microtiter plates at different time points were determined by the MTT ...

Fusobacterium nucleatum Using Allozyme Electrophoresis

Fusobacterium nucleatum forms part of the resident microbiota in both oral and extraoral sites in humans and animals. It is also involved in infections in such sites. Despite the genetic heterogeneity within the species, it has been divided into five subspecies, the validities of which have been questioned. In the present study, 44 F. nucleatum isolates were examined at 21 enzyme loci by using ...
